We introduced our unit on colors by reading
At the End of the Rainbow, by A.H. Benjamin
and then we made our own rainbows. First we put a dot of paint on our paper in each color of the rainbow and then used a squeegee to blend all the colors into a fantastic rainbow. The children had the biggest smile on their face after discovering how easy it was to make a rainbow. The children now know that the colors in a rainbow are always in the same order red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet (roygbiv).
On Tuesday we continued our rainbow theme. First, the children swirled glue on their paper and then they poured salt on top of the glue. Finally, the children added various colors of liquid watercolor
paint using an eye dropper. The results were spectacular!

We learned how to mix colors. We now know that red and yellow makes orange, red and blue makes purple and blue and yellow makes green.
Other fun areas in the playground:
We ended our week by doing a science experiment on capillary action, or in other words walking water.
~First we placed 6 plastic glasses on the table.
~Next we added water and food coloring to every other glass.
~We then folded 3 paper towel in half 3 times.
~ We waited ten minutes and then checked.
As you child what happened next.
Next week we look forward to learning about apples.
Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Denise
