Preparing for the holidays

 Dear Parents,

We began our holiday unit by learning about Hanukkah and Christmas.  If you celebrate a different holiday, please let us know so we can celebrate your holiday as well.
Our Holiday Books

Our class had lots of fun this week preparing for the holidays.  We introduced Hanukkah by reading Jeremy's Dreidel by Ellie Gellman, Christmas Daddy and Hanukkah Mama, and Pete the Cat Saves Christmas.

The children had so much fun decorating their own wooden dreidels with markers and gems.

They also decorated 3-D paper dreidels with holiday stickers and sequins and painted a menorah for our board.  They look so incredibly festive on our bulletin board along with our Christmas tree.

We began practicing singing several holiday songs such as:  O Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah, The Dreidel Song, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, This Little Light of Mine, and Jingle Bells.
