Dear Parents,
We learned all about polar bears, penguins, and snowy owls this week. On Monday, the children made a polar bear art project. The children cut out the body, face, snout, and ears. They glued on googly eyes and a nose and tissue paper for the surrounding ice. They look so amazing on our bulletin board. On Tuesday, we had a discussion all about polar bears. Here are some of the facts that we learned:
The children also started their rockhopper penguin art project by cutting out flippers, eyes, and beaks. They painted a paper roll black for the body. The children also glued all their penguin pieces together. They look so adorable and the children cannot wait to play with them.
Music with Ms. Lisa:
The children practiced the rhythm to One, Two, Tie My Shoe using the rhythm sticks. The also practiced putting their rhythm sticks in rest and playing position.
On Thursday, we had a very special snack to go with our arctic animal unit-blue jello (ice), topped with whipped cream (snow) and a penguin gummy. The children absolutely loved it!
The children made snowy owl puppets. They children cut out a triangle face, wings, yellow eyes, and painted the bag white. When the paint dried, the children glued the pieces together and added black curved lines for the fur.
****Please bring in a small dog or any other stuffed animal on Tuesday to leave at school for the week. We will be making dog houses and many other pet themed activities for our Pet Week unit.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Love,
Ms. Bonne & Ms. Denise
