ART SHOW PREPARATION!

 Dear Parents,

This week we continued to work on our art show projects.  The children created violins, inspired by Pablo's paintings of instruments  The children used a spoon to add various colored drops of paints onto a violin template and then created stunning scratch art designs with wooden scratch tools.

Afterwards, when the paint was dry, the children glued on four strings and four tuning pegs (buttons).  The children were so excited about their creations.

On Wednesday, we had a special guest, via zoom.  Dr. Van, from Newton Pediatric Dentistry.  He gave a demonstration on how to take good care of our teeth.  He stressed the importance of brushing and flossing our teeth every day.  He also delivered tooth brushes, tooth paste, and dental floss to the school for all of the children and teachers.

On Thursday, we learned about Giuseppe Arcimboldo, an Italian painter. We were inspired by his Funny Face painting called Summer.  Giuseppe made a face using fruit, vegetables, and flowers.  We were so excited by Giuseppe's work, that we decided to make our own works of art by adding pictures of plants and fruit onto our own face pictures.

We finally finished My First School Book (Handwriting without tears). They traced all the letters in the alphabet.  The next step for the children will be to write each letter onto a separate sheet of writing paper. The children also practiced reading from the Word Wall.
