Dear Parents,
We continued our color theme by
reading At the End of the Rainbow, by
A.H. Benjamin and then we made our own rainbows. First, we put a dot of paint
on our paper in each color of the rainbow and then use a squeegee to blend all
the colors into a fantastic rainbow. The
children had the biggest smile on their faces after discovering how easy it
was to make a rainbow. They children now
know that the colors of a rainbow are always in the same order red, orange,
yellow green, blue, indigo, and violet (roygbiv).
On Tuesday, the children made a color mixing chart. They learned how to mix primary colors to get secondary colors. The children now know that red and yellow makes orange, red and blue makes purple, and blue and yellow makes green.
Ms. Lisa brought in her glockenspiel, xylophone, rain stick, and rhythm drum on Thursday. The children marched to the beat of the drum, sang the "Eensy Weensy Spider," "The Muffin Man," and "Peas Porridge Hot."
We introduced the letter "F" on Thursday. The children learned how to sound it out and then practiced writing it in their workbooks. The children also brainstormed words beginning with the letter "F" such as: Fish, Firetruck, Food, Fun, Fruit, and Friends.
Notes from Ms. Peishuan:
We talked about Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, also commonly called the Moon Festival. It is the thanksgiving holiday for the Chinese and many other Asian peoples. Celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. This year it is next Monday on September 24th. Ms. Peishuan brought in pomelos and moon cakes, the traditional foods of this holiday to the class.
Reminders:
No school next Monday and Tuesday (Sept 24th and 25th)
Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Denise
