We introduced our unit on colors by reading The Color Book by Dayle Ann Dodds, Color Zoo by Lois Ehlert, A Color of His Own by Leo Lionni, and Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue by Laurie Rosenwald.
On Wednesday, the children made marbleized paper by covering a plate with shaving cream. Then they used eye-droppers to add various colors to the shaving cream. The children stirred all the colors together and then pressed a sheet of paper on top of it. Finally, we scraped the shaving cream off, and as a result, beautiful marbleized paper appeared.
On Thursday, we practiced writing the letter "L." Some of the L words that the children came up with were: Lion, Lemon, Lizard, and Lukas.
We continued our color theme by making salt paintings. First the children swirled glue onto their paper and then poured salt over it. Finally, the children added various color of liquid watercolor with eye droppers. The results were spectacular!

Music with Lisa:
In Mandarin, Ms. Peishuan
taught the children the word hat. She brought in a few of her own in various
colors and the children passed
them around while practicing saying the new word “hat.” At the end of her lesson, she stacked
all of her hats on her head and we all counted them in Mandarin.

~First we placed 6 glasses on the table.
~Next we added water and food coloring to every other glass.
~We then folded 3 paper towels in half 3 times.
~Dipped the paper towels into each glass.
~ We waited 10 minutes and then checked.
Ask your child what happened next.
We learned how to mix colors. We now know that red and yellow makes orange, red and blue makes purple, and blue and yellow makes green.
Reminders:
Please send your child to school with proper utensils
for lunch and afternoon snack.
Please make sure your child has at least 2 complete sets of clothing in their cubby.
Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Denise
