CRISTMAS AND KRAMPUS!

Dear Parents,

This week our focus was on Christmas.  We introduced our holiday unit by doing an excellent fine motor activity.  First we cut out mittens then the children sewed them together using a plastic needle and yarn.  They finished their mittens by gluing cotton balls on top  (representing fur).

The children painted colorful ornaments, which even included a picture of themselves inside.

On Wednesday, we celebrated Krampus, a European holiday. The children put their shoes in the hallway, and if they were good St. Nick would put candy in their shoes. If they were not well behaved, Krampus would put rocks in them.  Of course, all of our children received candy.

We continued to work on our alphabet letters.  This week we learned the letter "C".  The children brainstormed a list of words that begin with the such as:  cake, cupcake, cat, cup, and Cormac.  So far the letters we have learned are: L, E, F, H, T, I, U, and C.  The children have done an amazing job learning the letters and their sounds.  They have also been learning how to sound out simple words.

Some of the new words we added to our Word Wall are:
~Elf
~Felt
~Fit
~Lit
~Hit
~Let
~Left
~Cut
Other fun areas in the classroom:

Listening to Hanukah and Christmas stories.

We celebrated David's 4th birthday on Tuesday.  Thank you to his family for the delicious cupcakes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!

On Thursday and Friday we finished our holiday cards and surprise gifts.

Next week we will continue working on our Holiday unit.

Love Ms. Bonne & Ms. Denise
