WINTER IS COMING!

Dear Parents,

Since it feels like winter we decided to make a popsicle stick sleds  We painted them, added a sticker with our picture on it, and then added colorful rope to it.  The children did a great job painting!

On Wednesday we had a visit from Animal Craze.  Some of the animals she brought included: bunny rabbits, baby goat twins, ducks, chickens, and pigs. We don't know who enjoyed petting and brushing the animals more, the children or the teachers.

In music with Ms. Lisa, the children marched around with bells while singing "Jingle Bells."  They sang "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" while playing with the parachute.  The children also sang "Hickory Dickory Dock" and tapped on the triangle when they came to "The clock struck one."

We made adorable snow people out of plastic bottles.  The children had so much fun decorating them with buttons, foam stickers, googly eyes, hair, and scarves.

This week, we introduced the letter "O." The children practiced writing the letter and came up with words that it begins with "O"  Some of the words were:  Oliver, otter, orange, outside, and ostrich.

We celebrated Bodie's 4th birthday this week.  Thank you to his family for the delicious cupcakes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BODIE!

Notes from Ms. Peishuan:

Note for parents about Pinyin:

Pinyin is the name of the system we use to spell out the sounds of Chinese words in Roman letters. It is a written aid to pronunciation.

Chinese writing doesn't use an alphabet. Instead, it is made up of a series of characters, each of which are made up of mini pictures. We need help to know how to pronounce them, and that's where pinyin comes in.

For example, how do you say this character?  貓  😸
Using pinyin, you pronounce it " māo " (and it means "Cat").
Without knowing pinyin, it is very difficult for people to learn Chinese as a foreign language. It is important to remember that pinyin is only a guide. The best way to learn the sounds of any language is to copy what you hear. :)

The past two weeks we read two books, "I'm not a chair" and "Night-night, Little Pookie".
Animals sat on the giraffe. They thought he was a chair. We learned the new word 椅子 yǐ zi  chair.
Reviewed words in the book:
獅子 shī zi 🦁lion,
眼睛yǎn jīng eys,
耳朵ěr duo ears.
In "Night-Night, Little Pookie", we learned
衣服 yī fú clothes (shirt),
褲子 kù zi pants,
刷牙 shuā yá brush your teeth.
