FALL IS HERE

 Dear Parents,

This week we introduced the season of fall.  We read several fall-themed books for the entire week.  Here are some of the titles that we read:  When Autumn Comes, The Apple Pie Tree, Apple Countdown, Mouse's First Fall, and the Silly Scarecrow.

We discussed the differences of the seasons.  In the summer the weather is hot outside so we wear shorts, bathing suits, and sunglasses.  In fall or autumn, we dress in layers because the outside temperature becomes cooler.  The trees grow colorful leaves that eventually fall down to the ground.  Some of the holidays we celebrate in autumn are Halloween and Thanksgiving.

After our discussion we created festive scarecrows.  We glued a circle for the face, a square for the body, and a triangle for the hat.  We decorated the face with googly eyes, markers and a triangular shaped nose.  Finally we added clothespin arms and legs.

Music class with Ms. Lisa:

We rolled the ball while Ms. Lisa played Eine KleineNachtmusik by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Then we marched to the beat of the drum and froze when the music stopped.  Ms. Lisa's cat Sophie made an appearance during the lesson and sang a song.  The children enjoyed playing the shakers and the rhythm sticks to fast and slow rhythms.

Piano class with Ms. Peishuan:

Sports Class with Mr. Perry:

This week, Mr. Perry gave all the children rainbow streamers.  They moved them around in various directions to warm up their bodies.  Mr. Perry then did several fun yoga poses such as the pencil and the butterfly.  They moved onto push-ups, jumping jacks, sit-ups, and running in place.  He ended his class with riding the bikes.  The children absolutely loved every minutes of the class.

The children learned how to make and extend patterns, sorting fall pictures (according to size), and finally playing "Race to the Pumpkin Patch" game.
