Thanksgiving Is Here!!!

Dear Parents,

This week we started preparing for Thanksgiving.  We read a number of Thanksgiving themed books such as:  I'm Thankful Each Day!, Countdown to Thanksgiving, Celebrating Thanksgiving, and This Is the Turkey.

We made festive corn decorations out of pipe cleaners and yellow, brown, white, and orange beads.  Each child strung a few pipe cleaners with the beads.  We finished it off by twisting all the pipe together to make the top of the corn.  Please take a look at them displayed in our front window.

On Tuesday, the children made Thanksgiving placemats.  The children dipped their fingertips in red, yellow, orange and brown paint and them tapped them around their face sticker to make turkeys. They look so adorable. The children can hardly wait to take them home.

During circle time, we had a discussion about the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving is about the fall harvest that brought together the pilgrims and the Native Americans.  We spoke about our own Thanksgiving traditions in our households and then asked the children what they are thankful for.  Here is what they said:

Neatai-   for Abba and his vrooom vrooom!
Sanya-  for Riya
Lilia-  for Adela
Kavya-  for my sister
Nolan-  for my brother
Charlotte-  for my mommy, daddy, and sister
Maddie-  for Paw Patrol
Daniel-   for my mommy and daddy
Reva-  for Aarav
Ana-  for my baby cats and my family
Ms. Drago-  for the Half Note Class and Ms. Bonne
Ms. Bonne-  for our wonderful class and Ms. Denise
On Wednesday, the children decorated their own drums with fun stickers and ribbons.  The class had so much fun keeping the beat on them while we listened to The More We Get Together, 5 Little Turkeys, and Over the River and Through the Woods.
We have been busily working on the children's Native American costumes.  The children made headdresses with feathers, and fringe. They also decorated vests with more feathers.  The children looked so adorable in them.  I am sure you will all agree!

On Thursday, we decorated colorful Native American teepees.  The children put stickers on a half circle and then we stapled them into a cone shape.  The final touch was adding colorful patterned straws on
top.

Just having fun at school:

You like my pony tails?                How do I look?

That is so funny!

On Friday, the children performed our Thanksgiving songs while wearing their Native American costumes.  We are so proud of our Half-Notes for their wonderful performance!

Thanks so much for signing up for the Thanksgiving feast that will be next Wednesday,  November 25th.  We will be closing the school at 1PM that day and we will open on Monday, November 30th.
I love my new sleeping bag.

Have a great weekend!
Love,

Ms. Bonne & Ms. Denise
