MORE ABOUT DINOSAURS!

 Dear Parents.

This week the children had so much fun talking about the fossils they made with clay, while painting them with watercolor.

The children created their own dinosaurs using dinosaur cards and play dough.  Some of the dinosaurs that they made were: Iguanodons, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus,  Allosaurus,  Velociraptors, and Tyrannosaurus Rex.

I made a pterodactyl dinosaur.

On Monday, we celebrated Nolan's 4th birthday.  The children enjoyed the delicious cupcakes and the juice.  Thank you to Nolan's parents for providing the goodies.

OnTuesday, we painted Triceratops, Brontosaurus, and T-Rex shaped paper with bright colored paint.

The letter of the week was the letter "C."  The children practiced   writing  the letter  in their work books and came with word cat,
cut crab, crayon, and cow.

On Thursday we celebrated Diwali by reading "It's Diwali" by Richard Sebra.  Thank you to Pallavi (Sanya's mother) for sharing the Diwali book,  the tea lights, and for the delicious cupcakes.

The children had such a great time learning about Diwali.  We read the book and learned that Diwali is the five-day festival of lights celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness. People light candles or diyas,  dress in decorative clothing, and eat sweet treats to celebrate.

The children pretended to be paleontologists and used special tools to chip away and open up their dinosaur eggs made of clay. They persisted until they were able to find their dinosaurs.  Each child discovered a different dinosaur in their egg. We included the dinosaur guide for you to see which dinosaur they found.  The children absolutely loved this activity and were so excited when the dinosaur peeked out of the egg.

Other fun areas in the classroom:

Look at me!

****We also started talking about Thanksgiving.  We will have a special feast in our classroom on Wednesday, November 25th.  We will post a Sign-up Sheet in our classroom vestibule next week.  School will be closed at 1:00 on that day.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
Ms. Bonne & Ms. Denise
