ALL ABOUT ME!

 Dear Parents,

The Half Notes have done an amazing job settling into our classroom.  The children are beginning to learn our classroom routines.  It is so exciting watching the children develop new friendships and negotiating the use of the toys.

We introduced our unit "All About Me" unit by listening to a story called I like Me!, by Nancy Carlson.  The children then traced and cut out a template of a mirror and added a mirror decal to the center.    They each decorated their mirror with jewels and sequins.  The children held up the mirror to their face and described what they saw such as: the color of their hair, eyes, and lips.  Finally, they drew their self-portraits. They were absolutely adorable!

The children also learned some new songs this week such as: "This Song is All About Me," "I am Special," " The More We Get Together, " "Make New Friends," and the "Suzuki Smile Song."

The children each created a craft stick houses which included  a drawing of their family.

This week we started the first letter of our workbook, the letter "L."  Each child has their own book and will be learning to write a new letter each week, using the "Handwriting Without Tears" Program. The also came us with words a list of words beginning with "L" such as: lion, love, lollipop, light, leg, and lunch.

Fun in Sports with Mr. Perry:

Have a great weekend!

Best,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Mallari
