Dear Parents,
We introduced our color unit by reading Mouse Paint, by Ellen Stoll Walsh and My many Colored Days, by Dr. Seuss. We also had a discussion about primary colors which are red, yellow, and blue. The children then practiced mixing the colors to make secondary colors: orange, green, and purple.
The children created a color mixing chart. They now know that red and yellow makes orange, red and blue makes purple, and blue and yellow makes green.
The children then created their own rainbows. First they put a dot of paint in each color of the rainbow and then used a squeegee to blend all the colors into a fantastic rainbow. The children had the biggest smile on their face after discovering how easy it was to make a rainbow. The children now know that the colors in a rainbow are always in the same order red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet (roygbiv).
On Thursday the children swirled glue all over their papers and then poured salt over the glue and finally they added various colors of liquid watercolor paint using an eyedropper. The results were spectacular!
Israeli dancing with Talia:
Please send your child to school some change on Friday. We usually pass the Tzedakah box around the room on Friday and the children put some change into it.
Please make sure your child has a change of clothes appropriate for the season, since the weather is changing.
Love,
Bonne and Keisha

The walking water experiment comments are hilarious! What a fun week 😉
