CHINESE NEW YEAR!

 Dear Parents,

We introduced our  Chinese New Year by reading MY FIRST CHINESE New Year., by Karen Katz and Bringing In the New Year, by Grace Lin.  We then danced to the Dragon song..  Ms. Peishuan visited our class.  She served the children dumplings and rice crackers.  She also taught the children how to write the word spring  on special red paper, using  a paint brush.

We completed our unit by making  tiger puppets in honor of the  "year of the tiger."

Playing with the tiger

Dressed for the Chinese New Year!

We practiced writing and sounding out the letter "M."  M is for mouse, magnet, and mittens.  M is for milk that feeds little kittens.

The children also practiced forming their letters with play dough and alphabet cards.

Music with Ms. Lisa:

Children pretended to be dragons and performed the dragon dance with  large scarves on their heads.

Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Mallari

Notes:  Please send your child to school with a water bottle each day.
