Dear Parents,
This week we learned about Vincent van Gogh, a Dutch Painter. Some of his famous works of art are: Starry Night, Cafe Terrace at Night, Bedroom in Aries, and Sunflowers. He was a post impressionist artist who did not decide to become a painter until he was grown up. He worked at an art gallery, tried teaching, and he was a preacher like his dad. None of these things made him happy until he decided to become a painter.
We looked at paintings by Vincent van Gogh and decided to recreate his famous painting called Bedroom in Arles.
We started our project by painting a miniature bedroom made of folded
card stock. The children glued on a picture of a wooden floor and a
framed picture of themselves. They also created their own watercolor
painting. We took a picture of their painting and reduced its size to fit on the the bedroom wall.
The next thing the children added to their bedroom was furniture. The children rolled out and cut clay to make a bed, a table, and a chair. After the clay dried , the children painted it with watercolors.
Enjoying the spring weather on the playground
We loved playing with the magnets! We even practiced our counting skills and counted the number of objects we could hold with the magnet wand.
Beth visited our room and read a story called My Best Friend. We had a discussion afterwards and asked the children, what makes a good friend? Here is what they said:
Tehila said that Dalia plays with me
Dalia likes when her friends gives her hugs
Zimri likes when his friends play with him
Louis likes to play with his friend Dylan
Jonathan plays with his brothers and they are his good friends
Logan likes to build with friends
Alvie likes to play with his sister
Dalia said that she likes to play with Lexi because she is nice.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Love,
Bonne & Denise
