Dear Parents,
This week we focused on the life cycle (metamorphosis) of the butterfly. The first stage is when female butterflies lay tiny eggs onto leaves. The next stage is the larva stage. That's when the caterpillar hatches from the egg. They spend a lot of time eating, growing, and molting. The next stage is the pupa stage, which is a chrysalis. Many caterpillars make their chrysalises hanging upside down things like branches. Finally, the adult stage is when the butterflies emerge from their chrysalises and let their wings dry.

| Learning the Life Cycle of a Butterfly |
We made a multi-step art project of the life cycle of a butterfly. First we made the caterpillar by gluing pom poms and googly eyes to a clothespin. For the wings of the butterfly, we colored with markers onto a coffee filter and sprayed them with water. They looked so amazing when they dried! The last step was painting a cardboard tube yellow to be the chrysalis. To make them look extra special, we decorated them with stickers. We went through the entire cycle of the butterfly in circle time using our art project which was an excellent visual learning tool for the children.

The children had a wonderful learning experience with Rabbi Moshe (scribe). He called himself a Torah Doctor and demonstrated to the children how to write in the Torah using a feather that he dips into black ink. The most impressive thing about the Rabbi was that he memorized the entire Torah.
*****Have a lovely weekend and we will see you for parent-teacher conferences next Monday-Thursday.
We will close at 12:30 next Thursday May 25th, and will be closed on Friday May 26th and Monday May 29th.
Love,
Denise & Bonne
