Dinosaurs and Mother’s Day

 Dear Parents,

This week we introduced our dinosaur unit.  We read several dinosaur themed books such as: How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? by Jane Yolen and Danny the Dinosaur by Syd Hoff. We learned that dinosaurs lived 66 million years ago. They were reptiles so they had scaly skin like crocodiles and lizards.  Some dinosaurs were light and ran quickly on two legs and heavier dinosaurs walked on four legs. Dinosaurs that ate meat are called carnivores and dinosaurs that ate both meat and plants are called omnivores while dinosaurs that ate only plants are called herbivores.

We made our own "dino-ramas" this week. The children painted a sky, a tree, clouds, and rocks and added sand and toy dinosaurs.  They look amazing!

On Tuesday, the entire school celebrated Lag Ba'omer with Rabbi Michelle. We had a pretend bonfire and ate yummy s'mores.

We made dinosaur sugar cookies this Thursday to be served at our Mother's Day party.  The children rolled the dough, cut out dinosaur shapes, and decorated them with red and blue sugar.

Thank you so much for joining us for our Mother's Day celebration. The children have been practicing their Mother's Day songs for the past few weeks and were so excited to give you their presents.

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend!

Love,
Denise & Bonne
