We continued our winter theme by making snow globes. The children were given three pieces of clay which they rolled into balls and then pushed them together to make a snowman. After baking the clay, the children put them in a clear plastic container with water, glitter and plastic beads. the children were so surprised when they realized after shaking the jar that it actually looked like a snow storm. They were so excited with them, they didn't want to put them down all day.
One of the highlights of the week was when "Big Joe the Storyteller" visited our school. He used puppets and his great big loud voice to keep the children enthralled while he told his long vivid stories. He had the children participating and laughing the entire time. They were so cute! They really seemed to enjoy his stories.
On Thursday, the children in Ms. Lisa's music class reviewed the meaning of piano (soft) and forte (loud). The children played their bells forte whenever the full orchestra played and piano when just one instrument was played. We ended our lesson playing with the large parachute. The children tried to keep as many snow balls as possible on the parachute by moving it slowly, but it was just as much fun to move it super fast.
Our class filled our gem jar because of their great behavior. We asked the children to vote on what kind of party they wanted, and they decided to have a toy party. They each brought in a special toy from home. We even had chocolate cupcakes for our celebration. Yummy!
Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Denise
