ART SHOW PREPARATION CONTINUES!

Dear Parents,

This week we continued to prepare for our art show.  The children dressed their ballerinas with tutus, sequin headbands, and ribbon tops.

Idris's dad, Ali visited us this week and taught our class how to make friendship bracelets out of yarn.  Making and handing out bracelets on the first day of spring is a Middle Eastern tradition.

We celebrated Britta's 4th birthday.  Thank you to her family for the delicious home made cupcakes.
HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY BRITTA!

On Wednesday, we gave the children a wooden base, a pile of wooden pieces and two googly eyes. They were instructed to make their own unique sculptures. The results were sensational!

We listened to several books about our favorite artists such as:
Pablo Picasso by Matthew Meadows, Uncle Andy, by James Warhola, Degas and the Dance by Susan Goldman Rubin, Fabulous! A Portrait of Andy Warhol by Bonnie Christensen. and Uncle Andy's Cats by James Warhola.

Notes from Ms. Yuting:
In piano lessons, children continue to work on the shape of their fingers. All the fingers (except thumbs, which remain straight) should be rounded like rainbows when playing the piano. They are learning how to play Mississippi Hot Dog with all 5 fingers in the right  hand. Besides identifying the DO’s , they are also learning how to find RE’s and MI’s on the piano. Do is the white key located to the left of a two-black-key group, Re is the white key between the two black keys, and Mi is the white key to the right of a two-black key group.

Other fun areas in the classroom:

The letter of the week was "A." The children practiced writing it in their workbooks and on the whiteboard.  Some of the words that the children came up with were: arrow, alligator, Ariel, Alice, Alison, and and ant.

 Love,

Ms. Bonne and Ms. Denise
