EDGAR DEGAS CONTINUED!

Dear Parents,

We continued our Edgar Degas unit this week.  The children made spectacular ballerinas.  To make the tutus, they colored cupcake liners with pastel colored chalk.  Then they colored templates of ballerinas with the chalk and added pink and blue flowers.  They also made a background for the ballerinas by rubbing several pastel colors together across a sheet of paper.

The highlight of the week was our special visitor Jen who brought her Tumblebus.  Inside of the bus was a mini gym which included  climbing ropes, balance beams, a slide, a swing, a trampoline, monkey bars, and a tunnel.  The children had so much fun that they didn't want it to end.  It was the perfect activity to do on a cold winter day.

On Friday, Barbara an artist, came to visit our class.  She introduced the artist Anna Mary Robertson Moses otherwise known as Grandma Moses.   She is famous American folk artist of the 20th Century who who began her art career at 78 years old.  Barbara instructed the children how to make a spring painting inspired by Grandma Moses. She demonstrated to them how to draw mountains, houses, trees, people, dogs, and horses.  It was amazing how well the children were able to follow along with her.  Next week the children will paint them.

Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Denise
