We finally finished our "Original Works of Art" sunflower painting. We painted the flower petals, leaves, and flower pot. The children finished their painting off by dipping one of their fingers into red paint twice and using it to make a heart stamp onto their flower pot. The results were marvelous!
We also worked on the letter "I" this week. We practiced writing it and sounding it out. The children came up words several words that begin with the letter such as, insect, ice cream, inside, and iguana. So far we have learned the letters L, F, E, H, I, and T.

This week, we learned the words tree, leaves, and several colors in Mandarin.
We played a fun and engaging game with the children. The children took turns rolling dice. They counted the dots on the dice and then picked out a colored popsicle stick. Then they finger painted the number from the dice in the color that they chose as leaves on the tree. The children created a beautiful fall tree together!

Other Areas of Interest in Class:
We concluded our week by experimenting with a pumpkin. The children learned that pumpkins float in water. They counted the lines around the pumpkin and found 20 lines. We then predicted how many seeds were inside. Here are the children's predictions:
Jiya: 5
Martina: 5
Riya: 17
Margot: 16
Lucas: 1
Mira: 3
Dorothy: 100
Ruby: 4
Clark: 10
Jonathan: 20
Brigitte: 6
Eric: 21
Bonne: 50
Denise: 60
Dorothy's prediction was the closest with her guess of 100 seeds. We found that the pumpkin contained 292 seeds!
