THANKSGIVING INTRODUCTION!

Dear Parents,

We introduced Thanksgiving by reading One Little, Two Little, Three Little Pilgrims by B.G. Hennessy.
The children began the unit by making pilgrim hats.  The girls used a stamp roller to paint a colorful border onto their bonnets and then glued on a picture of pilgrims to it.  The boys made their hats by gluing on a paper buckle template dipped in gold glitter.  They finished off their hat by adding a leaf to it.  The children look so adorable dressed as pilgrims!  We will finish off their costumes by making cuffs and a collar.

The letter of the week was "C."  The children practiced writing the letter "C" in their workbooks and practiced saying its sound.  Some of the "C" words that they thought of were: cookie, cake, cat, cut, color, and cup.

Fun in the playground:

Notes from Ms. Peishuan:
We learned to read numbers one to five in Chinese characters!
一二三四五
Each spider web plate has a Chinese word on it, put the matching number of bat or pumpkin on the spider web plate.

We also learned to say how old am I.
我三歳 wǒ sān suì I’m 3 years old
我四歲 wǒ sì suì I’m 4 years old

Music with Ms. Lisa:

On Thursday, Ms. Lisa invited the entire school to listen her perform a contemporary piece called, "Mercy" by Max Richter.  She will be playing this song on her violin at the faculty concert.  The children were riveted by her engaging performance and the teachers were too.

Friday was Brigitte's 4th birthday. Happy Birthday Brigitte!!! Brigitte's mom and dad brought in delicious cupcakes and read two Elephant and Piggie books. Thanks so much to Brigitte's family for the special treats!

Just a reminder that school will be CLOSED this Monday, November 11th for Veteran's Day.

**Also, we will be having a Thanksgiving concert and a potluck lunch on Wednesday, November 27th at 11:30AM.  A potluck lunch will follow and our school will close at 1PM that day. Friends and family are all invited to watch the school sing their current repertoire of songs.

We will put up a sign up sheet for the potluck soon in our classrooms. If your child is unable to attend, please let us know.

Have a lovely weekend,

Love,
Mrs. Boodman and Ms. Drago
