PET WEEK CONTINUED!

Dear Parents,

On Monday, Geddy (parrot) visited our classroom.  He sang, barked, laughed, meowed, said "peek-a-boo," come here," and "Hello Geddy."  We also had a discussion about birds.  We learned that parrots come from the rainforest, where it is hot and humid.  We talked about their diet.  They mainly eat fruit, vegetables, seeds, and occasionally nuts.

Did you know, according to bird experts, some parrots have the reasoning skills of a three year old?  I am not sure if this is true, but it only took Geddy two weeks to learn how to put a basketball into a basketball net.  Geddy is twenty-six years old and is expected to live about another sixty-five years.

The children enjoyed watching Geddy so much that we decided to make our own parrot.  They look so adorable flying in our classroom window.

On Tuesday, the children made orange and black cats.  First they glued a head and tail onto the cat's body.  They cut out triangle for the eyes and nose, and added whiskers.  They look absolutely adorable standing in front of our bulletin board.

On Thursday, we had a "Pet Hospital." The children had so much fun performing physical examinations on their pets.  They weighed and measured them, listened to their heart beat, using a stethoscope.  The children even performed an eye exam on their pets.

This week we practiced counting and writing the number eight in our workbooks.

Other fun areas in class:

                                                                    Just talking to friends

Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Mallari
