Enrichment Classes

Dear Parents,

We wanted to dedicate an entire blog to all of the fun enrichment classes that we have each week. In addition, we've included what we did this week in our classroom.

Important dates:
—-On Friday May 12th, all Red Room parents are invited to join us for our special Mother’s Day celebration. The party will start at 9:30 AM.
—-Parent-teacher conferences will be on May 22nd, May 23rd, and May 24th. A sign up sheet will be out Monday.
—Our Art Show will be on May 18 from 5-6 PM.

In sports class with Coach John, the children started off by warming up their bodies. They run, walk, hop, skip, and  gallop around the cones and freeze when the music stops. Coach John taught the children a new game where they had to try to knock down the opposing team’s cones by throwing balls across the room.

In Kung Fu with Sensei Logan, the children started their class by doing jumping jacks and push ups to warm themselves up. Sensei Logan took out his foam kick and punch blockers for the children to practice on. They played their favorite game called “museum” where one classmate has to find others who move or flinch to join them.

Israeli Dancing with Talia is a fun, engaging class that includes movement activities, dancing, and lessons in Hebrew vocabulary. The children waved colorful scarves in the air while pretending to be butterflies, did the Hokey Pokey in Hebrew, and listened to a beautiful Israeli lullaby while winding down at the end of the lesson.

Our music teacher Wayne, sings a variety of songs for the children to sing a long to. We sang a song about a butterfly, a sing and response song about pizza, and he took a few requests for Twinkle Little Star and Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

Beth our “Singing Social Worker” read the classic story about friendship, The Rainbow Fish. We had a discussion about why no one wanted to play with the Rainbow Fish at first, but gained friends and happiness after he shared some of his shiny scales

Quiet reading  time

Fun inside and outside of the classroom with our classmates

We made chocolate chip pancakes this week. After they were cooked, we decorated them with chocolate chips and whipped cream. What a delicious way to start our day!

Have a great weekend!
Love,
Denise & Bonne
